MONTREAL- A fresh start in 2013 is not what the Ryerson Rams women's hockey team received Thursday night, as they fell to the Ottawa Gee-Gees 5-2. The game was the Rams first in the Theresa Humes tournament hosted by the Concordia Stingers and was played at Ed Meagher Arena in Montreal.
Mackenzie Manning got the Rams on the board with a nice shot that rung off the post and in the net on a pass from Jessica Hartwick.
Rookie defenceman Stephanie Chiste scored the Rams second goal of the game on the power play. Melissa Wronzberg picked up the assist on Chiste's marker.
Dana Carson got the start in net for the Rams, who were outshot 26-23.
The Rams play their second game of the tournament on Friday, when they face the host Stingers at 7 p.m.
