MONTREAL - For the first time since Oct. 14, 2012, the Ryerson Rams women's hockey team recorded a win, a 3-2 victory over the Concordia Stingers. The game was a part of the Theresa Humes tournament hosted by the Stingers. The win evened the Rams record to to 1-1 in the tournament.
The game also marked the return of goaltender Emma Crawley, who missed the majority of the fall schedule due to injury. It was also Crawley's first win since Sept. 29, 2012, when the Rams defeated the Stingers in a 1-0 shootout thriller. Crawley had a stellar return, making 14 saves.
Rams captain Nella Brodett started the scoring for the Rams off a rebound that was shot from the blue line. Victoria Arci and Emily Popelar assisted on Brodett's marker.
Rookie Samantha Pui, from Mackenzie Manning and Emily Rose Galliani Pecchia netted the Rams second goal. Popelar, with her second point of the night, from Manning, and Melissa Wronzberg recorded the Rams third marker.
The Rams outshot the Stingers 35-16.
The three day tournament wraps up Saturday, as the Rams face-off against the Carleton Ravens, who are 0-2 in the tournament. Game time is at 5:30 p.m.
