After falling behind 2-0 in the first twenty minutes of play, the Rams erupted for three goals in the span of 2:43 in the second period. Freshman Samantha Pui (Toronto) got the Rams on the board, tipping home a point shot from Stephanie Chiste (Nobleton, Ont.) on the power play at 10:18.
Just 25 seconds later, Emily Rose Galliani Pecchia (Toronto) ripped a shot coming down the left wing and then buried her own rebound to tie the game at 2-2.
The Varsity Blues found themselves in penalty trouble as they took back to back penalties to give the Rams a 5-on-3 advantage. Jessica Hartwick (Brampton, Ont.) got her point shot through and captain Nella Brodett (Edmonton, Alta.) potted her third goal of the season at 13:01 to give Ryerson a 3-2 lead.
Toronto's Callie Bazak (Peterborough, Ont.) netted her second goal of the contest at 16:33 on a great pass from the corner boards to pull the game back into a tie at 3-3. Her first goal came on the power play which gave the Blues a 2-0 lead.
Four minutes into the third period, Stacey Oue (Scarborough, Ont.) roofed a backhander over the shoulder of Ryerson's Emma Crawley (Herring Cove, N.S.) to hand Toronto the lead once again. Oue's goal stood up as the game winner as the Rams couldn't muster enough offence in the final frame to find an equalizer.
Sonja Wiedenfelder (Toronto) scored the other Blues goal to open the scoring in the first.
The Rams outshot Toronto for the majority of the game until the offence dried up in the third with just five shots in the frame. The teams finished tied with 29 shots apiece.
Three Ryerson players finished with a multi-point game including Pui (1G, 2A), Hartwick (2A) and Brodett (1G, 1A).
Both teams found success on the power play in this one as Ryerson went 2-for-6 while Toronto was 2-for-5.
Emma Crawley stopped 25 of 29 shots in her first league game since October while Toronto's Krista Funke (Regina, Sask.) stopped 26 of 29 shots for her sixth win of the season.
Ryerson returns to the ice on Saturday, January 26 when they visit the Western Mustangs in London at 4:00 p.m.
