Stars of the Week
TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams are pleased to announce the following student-athletes as the Stars of the Week, ending September 23rd.
Emma Carr - Fastpitch - 2nd Year - Photography
Carr had a productive weekend at the plate for the Rams as the fastpitch team went 2-2. Carr opened the weekend with two hits and two runs in an 11-0 win over Carleton. On Sunday, Carr hit an RBI triple to score one of the Rams' two runs in a 3-2 loss. In the final game of the weekend, Carr was on base four times with three hits and a walk, and scored three runs in a 6-5 loss.
Erika Crouse - Hockey - 1st Year - Criminology
Crouse scored the game-tying goal against Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and added an assist in the Rams' 3-3 tie with the NCAA program. Crouse now has four points in her first five exhibition games with the Rams and looks to be an offensive threat moving into the regular season.
Anastasia Grekos - Soccer - 4th Year - Business Management
Trailing 2-0 on Saturday against Nipissing, Grekos scored her first OUA goal to get the Rams on the board and give them some momentum. Ryerson would comeback to earn a 2-2 draw in that game. The next day, Grekos was back at generating offensive chances, registering one shot against Laurentian in another tie for the Rams.
Marcus Hinds - Hockey - 4th Year - Arts & Contemporary Studies
In a pair of games against national powerhouse UNB, Hinds stood out with his speed and creativity. Hinds scored the Rams' third goal on Saturday which helped propel Ryerson to a 4-3 win. The victory was the first by a team against UNB in non-conference play since the 2004-05 season.
Kevin Lucas - Baseball - 1st Year - Graduate Studies
Lucas was dominant in his start against McMaster on Saturday afternoon. The right hander pitched a complete nine inning game allowing just five hits and zero earned runs against. He picked up six strikeouts in his 109 pitches. Lucas lowered his ERA to 1.86 on the season which places him 6th in the OUA amongst starters.
Raheem Rose - Soccer - 5th Year - Arts & Contemporary Studies
Rose scored his first goal of the season on Sunday in a 2-0 win over Laurentian. The former MVP missed the first few games of the season but this weekend looked more like himself, generating dangerous chances for the Rams. Rose registered two shots on goal against Nipissing on Saturday before his goal on two shots on Sunday.
