TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams men's hockey team is excited to announce the first commitment to the program for the 2017-18 season in Steve Harland.

Harland spent the past two seasons with the North Bay Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) where he amassed 39 goals and 66 assists for 105 points in 121 regular season games.

Prior to his time in the OHL, Harland played for the Powassan Voodoos in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) where was the league's most valuable player and a first-team all-star in 2014-15. That season he scored 42 goals and added 53 assists for 95 points in 52 games.

Harland finished his minor hockey career with the Toronto Nationals where he won a provincial championship in 2013-14, something the East York, Ont. native calls the highlight of his athletic career.

The right winger will enter the Arts & Contemporary Studies program at Ryerson.

Harland is the first of several players to commit following the announcement that Johnny Duco will return as the head coach of the Rams. Stay tuned for more announcements as they are made available.
