Fine signs first professional contract in Denmark

By Andrea Elliott
TORONTO - Ryerson Rams fifth year graduating captain Michael Fine has signed his first professional contract and will be taking his talents to the Esbjerg Energy in Denmark.

Esbjerg plays in the Metal Ligaen, the top tier of Danish hockey, and is the two-time defending league champion. Fine will be the sixth Canadian player to join the Energy's roster.

"In his years at Ryerson University, Michael Fine has demonstrated continuity, but at the same time managed to develop as a player," said Esbjerg's sports director, Søren Mathiasen, in a team press release. "We are confident he has the leadership skills to tie the game together...and the attitude and understanding to help fellow players."

Fine graduates from the Rams program as Ryerson's all-time leader in points (132) and assists (83) and served as the team captain for three seasons. He was named an OUA First-Team All-Star in his final two seasons.
