Rams announce Glover as first recruit for 2018-19
TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams men's hockey team is excited to announce the first commitment to the program for the 2018-19 season in Brandon Glover.
Glover has spent the past three seasons in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) with the St. Marys Lincolns and London Nationals.
This past season, the forward led the Nationals in scoring with 18 goals and 47 assists for 65 points in 50 games. Glover accumulated 49 goals and 100 assists for 149 total points in 118 career games in the GOJHL.
“I am a very smart player in the sense that I can read the game and use my knowledge of the game to my advantage,” said the London, Ont. native. “I consider myself a playmaker but I also pride myself in being a clutch, crunch time player including empty net situations, overtimes and high-pressure scenarios.”
Glover won back-to-back OFSAA championships in 2014 and 2015 with London South Collegiate Institute, where he was an honour roll student and Athlete of the Year in 2015.
"We are very excited to add a student-athlete of Brandon’s calibre to our program," said Rams head coach Johnny Duco. "He has the tools and desire to develop both on and off the ice. He is an excellent playmaker that possesses a heavy shot and is very strong on the puck. We feel Brandon will continue to develop his game at the U SPORTS level and has the potential to be an offensive threat for years to come."
Glover will begin his studies in Ryerson's Arts and Contemporary Studies program beginning in September.
He is the first of several players to commit to the Rams this off-season. Keep it locked to www.ryersonrams.ca and @ryersonrams on Twitter for more recruit releases as they are announced.
