TORONTO - Adam Hemati of the Rams men's soccer team has signed a professional contract with Persepolis FC of the Persian Gulf Pro League based in Tehran, Iran.

The midfielder spent three seasons with the Rams from 2014-16 and scored 12 goals in 37 games. Team captain in 2016, Hemati led the Rams to a program best 14-1-1 regular season record.

Persepolis FC is regarded as the most popular football club in Asia and has won 10 Iranian Football League titles, a league record. Persepolis won the title in 2016-17 and went on to win the Super Cup - a single game between the Persian Gulf Pro League and the Hazfi Cup winner.

Hemati has been signed to a three-year contract and is expected to be with the club until 2020.
