Rams announce Kai Martin as third recruit

By Jessica Pincente

TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams men’s soccer team announced that Kai Martin has committed to Ryerson and will take to the field for the Rams in August.

Martin, a Toronto native, will join the Rams after spending this past season with TFC III. The defender previously played with the Markham Lightning in the Ontario Youth Soccer League (OYSL), winning a league championship with the team in 2016 and finishing second in the province in 2017.

Martin self-describes as a “hard-working, consistent athlete with a positive attitude.”

A graduate of Northern Secondary School, Martin played for the school’s soccer team since 2015. He was named MVP of the 2018 indoor team in his senior year.

Martin will enter Ryerson’s Business Management program in September.

“I chose Ryerson because of the great business programs offered, the diversity of the school environment, the community, and the opportunity for development I see on the Ryerson soccer team,” explains Martin. “The coaches have a team of players that feel like a family and that genuinely care about each other’s success on and off the soccer pitch.”

Martin joins his Lightning teammate, Oliver Wales, in the Rams’ 2018 recruiting class.

Martin will enter Ryerson’s Business Management program in September.
