El-Chanti, Custovic score in third straight win

By Andrea Elliott

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - The No. 4 ranked Ryerson Rams men's soccer team picked up their third straight win to start the 2018 season with a 2-0 victory over Trent on Wednesday night.

After seeing Trent just three days ago in a 12-0 blowout win, the Rams offence was held to just two goals in the rematch, but that was more than enough for the victory.

Abdallah El-Chanti (Toronto) continued his torrid scoring pace to open the season, netting his sixth goal of the season. The goal held as the only first half tally and the Rams led the Excalibur 1-0 at halftime.

Early in the second half it was first year striker Mirza Custovic (Toronto) who doubled the Rams' lead to 2-0 with his fourth of the year.

First year keeper Andrew Shahrivar (Toronto) got the start in goal and picked up a cleansheet victory in his first OUA game.

With the win the Rams sweep the season series with the Excalibur and will now set their sights on a Top 10 showdown with the No. 10 Toronto Varsity Blues. Kickoff between the two downtown squads is set for 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, September 2 at Varsity Stadium.
