Rams host Kingston squads to close the month
TORONTO - Coming off yet another 2-0 weekend, the Ryerson Rams men’s soccer team will look to continue their dominant run in the regular season this weekend.
The Rams had a bit of a scare in their first game of last weekend when they were tied with Nipissing late in the second half. However, an 88-minute goal from Matthew Isabella gave the Rams the lead and they carried that momentum into their Sunday win.
Dating back to the 2017 season the Rams are on a 19-game unbeaten streak and will be trying to extend that to 21 games after this weekend.
Saturday, Sept. 29 the Rams will play Queen's in what should be their tougher matchup. The third place Gaels have only given up eight goals in their nine games. But when Queen’s and Ryerson met earlier in the season, it was the Rams offence that lead them to a 2-1 win over the Gaels.
With Ryerson having a seven-point lead over Queen's, a win against the Gaels will put any thought of them catching the Rams to rest.
On Sunday, the Rams will take on RMC, also the second meeting of the year for these teams. The Rams beat RMC 3-0 in their previous meeting and will be looking to do the same this time around.
A big thing for the Rams this weekend will be not getting distracted. Next weekend, on Saturday, Oct. 6 the Rams will travel to Ottawa to take on the Carleton Ravens, a matchup that will have a big influence on how the OUA East shapes up.
But Ryerson can’t take either opponent lightly this weekend, and they need to focus on the task at hand and worry about the match up with the Ravens when that time comes around.
Both games this weekend will kick off at 4:30 p.m. at Downsview Park in North York. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram for all the latest scores and updates.
