Ravens' big second half powers them over Rams

By Luke Bellus

OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens beat the Ryerson Rams 3-0 in a game that will have a massive impact on the number one seed in the OUA East.

The first half was everything as advertised - two nationally ranked teams battling it out with little to no room for error. Both teams had some chances but nothing came of them and it was 0-0 after 45 minutes.

The start of the second half was more of the same; limited opportunities and it was clear that someone had to give this game a spark. Enter Stefan Karajovanovic. Within two minutes of being subbed into the game he found himself on the receiving end of a perfect corner kick. He volleyed the ball beautifully over everyone’s heads and placed the ball into a part of the net that Ryerson goalie Ali Ghazanfari was left frozen with no chance at a save.

From that point on it was all Carleton, as they added another goal just a few minutes later on a strike by Dante Cobisa to give them a 2-0 lead, all but ending the game.

In the dying moments of the game with the Rams down two they became more aggressive, with nothing else to lose as they pushed and pushed trying to cut the lead down to one. However, it gave Carleton a chance to put an exclamation mark on the game. And they did just that when they grabbed possession of the ball and buried a shot from more than 30 yards out giving them a 3-0 advantage.

This isn’t the result the Rams were hoping for and with this being their only game of the weekend they will need to wait until Wednesday Oct. 10 when they travel to UOIT at 7 p.m. to get back on the pitch.
