Rams look to remain undefeated in weekend homestand
TORONTO - Through the third week of the season the Ryerson Rams remain undefeated after a weekend road trip that brought a dominant win against the Trent Excalibur, as well as a tie against one of the OUA’s most powerful offensive teams, the Carleton Ravens.
The Rams are 3-0-1 on the season, and currently sit first in the OUA’s Eastern conference. A strong showing in the second half of Saturday’s game helped bring a crushing victory over Trent, as the Rams won by a score of 5-0. A hard-fought game on Sunday against the Carleton Ravens ended in a 3-3 tie after the Rams capitalized on a Carleton turnover late in the game.
The Rams have been a powerful offensive team thus far in the season; they’ve scored 15 goals across four games, averaging a 3.75 GFA. They have been solid on the back end as well, only allowing three goals throughout the season. Their top-calibre play helps put the Rams atop the OUA’s stats board after only four games this season.
The upcoming weekend brings a tougher challenge in the UOIT Ridgebacks. The Ridgebacks are 2-2 on the season, coming off a hard-fought 2-1 loss against the University of Toronto. The Rams were 2-0 against the Ridgebacks last season, and they look to keep their winning streak alive this weekend. Saturday’s game will be played at Downsview Park at 5:30 pm.
Sunday’s game brings a familiar opponent in the Trent Excalibur, who the Rams will face for the second time in two weeks. The Excalibur are 0-3-1 on the season, and tied their last game 0-0 against the Royal Military College. The Rams were dominant against the Excalibur last weekend, and will hope to keep up that same level of skill this weekend against both Trent and UOIT.
