Rams swept by Hawks, split with Warriors
WATERLOO, Ont. - The Ryerson Rams women's fastpitch team traveled to Waterloo for weekend doubleheader action with the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday and Waterloo Warriors on Sunday.
Saturday vs. Laurier
Laurier’s Amy Campagnolo baffled the Ryerson Rams hitters all game long in the first game, tossing a no-hitter and leading Laurier to a 12-0 victory.
No Ryerson Rams batter was able to locate Campagnolo's pitches during the game, striking out 10 times.
In the second game, Laurier’s pitchers once again overpowered the Ryerson batters, giving up only four hits.
It was not Ryerson's day, as Laurier’s batters also dominated in an 11-0 victory.
Sunday vs. Waterloo
In the first game versus the University of Waterloo, a six-run explosion in the fourth inning spurred the Ryerson Rams to a 9-0 victory.
The Ryerson Rams stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring one run on a groundout by Shaughnessy.
The Rams matched their one-run second inning with one more in the third. In the second, Ryerson scored on an RBI single by Jennifer Nobile, bringing home Samantha Hild.
Ryerson scored in the fourth on a two-run single by Irene Tsang, an RBI single by Emily Rickson, a two-run double by Kaylyn Shaughnessy, and an RBI double by Carly Forrester.
Shaughnessy racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Ryerson Rams.
In the second game, Emily Rickson went 2-3 at the plate, but the Ryerson Rams fell 9-2 to Waterloo to gain the split in games.
Waterloo stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring three runs on an error and two singles.
