Fastpitch evens record with sweep of Gryphons
GUELPH, Ont. - The Ryerson Rams women's fastpitch team swept their doubleheader against the Gryphons on Tuesday night in Guelph.
In the first game, newcomer Thea Wall had two extra base hits as the Ryerson Rams took home a 6-3 victory over Guelph in seven innings on Tuesday.
Emily Rickson pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed one earned run on two hits.
The Ryerson Rams were sparked by Taylar Oats and Hayley Graham, who teamed up for five hits and three RBIs.
In the second game, the Rams beat Guelph 6-2 behind both the bat and the arm of Emily Rickson.
Rickson was hot from the plate, going 3-4, driving in one and scoring two runs. She singled in the first and third innings and doubled in the fifth inning.
Rickson was a workhorse on the rubber for the Ryerson Rams, allowing one earned run, six hits and one walk while striking out three over seven innings of work.
The Ryerson Rams received outstanding defence from their infielders – Hayley Graham, Betty Duong, Carly Forrester and Jennifer Nobile to shutdown the Guelph attack.
The sweep of the doubleheader brought the Ryerson Rams record to 7-7 and still in the hunt for a playoff position.
