TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams women's volleyball team continues to add to their roster for the future, announcing the commitment of Kelly Schaefer for the 2017-18 season.

A native of Uxbridge, Ont., Schaefer brings championship calibre experience from the outside attacking position.

Schaefer has two Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) provincial titles, one national title, and one Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) championship on her resume. Schaefer was also selected to the 16U Team Ontario squad.

"Kelly is a powerful attacker whose all-around game continues to improve as a member of the Aurora Storm Vortex," said Ryerson head coach Dustin Reid. "She has the potential to be a great outside attacker in our league."

A student at Uxbridge S.S., Schaefer will enter the Criminology program at Ryerson.

"My decision to attend Ryerson was based on multiple things. My education, which is very important to me, as well as the opportunity to continue my volleyball career into post-secondary, and be apart of the outstanding program Dustin has created," said Schaefer. "Another major factor in my decision was making sure I am in a welcoming environment both on and off the court, and Ryerson provided that."

Schaefer joins middle Lindsay Kleuskens in the Rams 2017-18 recruiting class.
