OVA TO HOST ANNUAL COACHING SYMPOSIUM AT CHAMPIONSHIP
Friday, November 11, 2016, Toronto: The 2017 U Sports Women's Volleyball National Championship will be hosted by Ryerson University in Toronto on March 17-19, 2017.
The championship will be staged in Canada’s most iconic sports venue, the former Maple Leaf Gardens, now Ryerson's Mattamy Athletic Centre. The nation’s top eight women’s university volleyball teams including the Ryerson Rams will compete over three days for the national title. The building's hockey arena will be converted to a volleyball court with a capacity of 3,000.
“We are very excited and proud to host student-athletes from across the country for the 2017 U Sports Women's Volleyball National Championship,” said Dr. Ivan Joseph, Director of Ryerson Athletics. “We look forward to hosting another national championship event that will capture the energy of the campus and engage our community.”
Forty-one teams from four regional conferences across Canada will compete from October to February for a spot in the championship, where 11 matches will be played to establish the 2017 champion.
