Rams hit the road for first away games of the year
TORONTO - After a successful 3-0 start to their season on home court the Ryerson Rams men’s basketball team will hop on the team bus and hit the road for the first time this regular season.
The trip will see the Rams - U SPORTS No. 2 ranked in the country – take on the Waterloo Warriors and the Laurier Golden Hawks on back to back nights.
The Rams will tip off the road trip Friday, Nov. 9 against the Warriors. It’s been a troubled start for the Warriors. Their total of 249 points scored through four games is 52 less than what the Rams have scored even though Ryerson has played one less game. Waterloo currently sits second worst in points allowed which is something this deep Ryerson lineup will be looking take full advantage of.
The following day Ryerson will travel to take on the Golden Hawks. In what was the shock of the weekend, Laurier upset the No. 8 ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees, 79-71. The day before Laurier had a chance to not only shock the OUA but all of U SPORTS when they took a lead into the fourth quarter against the Carleton Ravens only to fall 80-77.
Laurier holds a 2-2 record after their first four games but the two losses came against the Brock Badgers and Carleton by a combined 12 points.
The Golden Hawks have held all of their opponents to under 85 points in every game in this early part of the season. However, they have also failed to score more than 80 points in every game as well.
On the other side Ryerson has held their opponents to under 60 points while scoring at least 95 in their opening three games of the season.
Saturday could be the first real test for this Rams team, but with the high-powered offence and ability to limit teams on the other end of the court mixed with Laurier’s lack of scoring, this game could see Ryerson win based on fire power alone.
The road trip means you’ll have to stream the games at OUA.tv and follow us on Twitter for all of the latest updates.
