ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Ryerson Rams men's basketball team is unbeaten no longer as the No. 4 Rams dropped a 74-65 decision to the No. 6 Brock Badgers Friday night at the Meridian Centre.

BOXSCORE

The two top ten U SPORTS ranked teams gave the 3,108 fans on hand a memorable night as the Rams and Badgers traded momentum and leads throughout the contest.

Brock jumped out to a 10-0 lead to open the game before the Rams weathered the storm and finished the quarter trailing 19-13.

Ryerson made a conscious effort to get to the free throw line in the second quarter and it helped erase their six point deficit. The Rams shot an efficient 94.1% from the charity stripe throughout the game (16-for-17). Driving the lane and getting easy points started to open up their options on offence and the Rams outscored Brock 24-15 in the frame to take a 37-34 lead at halftime.

In the third it was Brock's turn to overcome their deficit and some timely three point shooting from the Badgers lifted them to a 52-50 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

The Badgers defence was locked in during the second half, allowing just 28 Rams points and the No. 4 Rams couldn't come up with an answer down the stretch as Brock came away with the victory.

The normally strong three-point shooting Rams didn't show up on Friday as the team shot just 18.9% (7-for-37) from downtown. That was a major difference in this one as Brock converted on 43.5% (10-for-23) of their long range attempts.

Myles Charvis was the Rams top performer with 14 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals.

Brock's Dani Elgadi and Johneil Simpson both finished with 17 points to lead the Badgers.

Ryerson's record runs to 13-1 while Brock improves to 9-4 on the season. The Rams are back in action on Wednesday, February 1 when they host the York Lions at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
