Team Ontario veteran Scotten joins Rams

By Andrea Elliott
TORONTO - Ottawa native Marin Scotten is the latest player to commit to the Ryerson Rams women's basketball team, becoming the third recruit for the 2017-18 season.

Scotten has been a member of Team Ontario for the past two summers and won the U17 national championship in 2016 with fellow Rams recruit Jama Bin-Edward.

"We are adding another great athlete, as Marin brings an ability to score and in particular shoot the ball from the perimeter. She also adds great length to have an impact on both ends of the floor. She continues to add pieces to her game that can make her a versatile threat at the U SPORTS level," said Rams head coach Carly Clarke.

The shooting guard has played with the Ottawa Nationals program in the JUEL league for the past three years, including a year of JUEL prep play. This season the Nationals finished fourth in the regular season standings with a 16-6 record.

Scotten is also a top-level track athlete having placed fourth at the OFSAA provincial championship in the steeple chase event.

"I chose Ryerson because of the great coaching staff as well as the recent success of the women's basketball team. I love the atmosphere at Ryerson and I know that I will be able to grow as a player and a person," said Scotten.

The newest Ram will be enrolled in the Arts & Contemporary Studies program starting this fall.

Stay tuned for more recruit announcements as they become available.
