Rams look to make adjustments on final road trip
TORONTO — The No. 4 Ryerson Rams are set to embark on their last road trip of the 2018-19 regular season in just a few days, looking to fix mistakes and sure up their play this weekend against the Nipissing Lakers and the Laurentian Voyageurs.
Ryerson is coming off a one-and-done weekend, pulling out a 53-42 victory against the Toronto Varsity Blues last Friday. The Rams then became the third team in their division to clinch a spot in the playoffs, locking in a berth with just four games remaining in the regular season.
The Rams will look to make a few key improvements moving forward as the regular season begins winds down. Specifically, the team has scored 62 points or less in each of their last three games, and their field goal and three-point percentages have suffered because of this.
Ryerson will have an opportunity to make some adjustments and sure up their play this weekend as they hit the road for the last time this season.
Friday night, the team will tip off against the Nipissing Lakers at 6:00 p.m. in North Bay. Ryerson earned a hefty 85-48 victory over the Lakers just a few weeks ago when the two teams faced off in Toronto, and the Rams will hope for similar results on Friday.
The Lakers sit last in the OUA with a 3-16 record on the year and are one loss away from being mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. Nevertheless, the Rams will have a chance to make some adjustments and hopefully pull out a win against Nipissing.
Ryerson will then face the Laurentian Voyageurs in Sudbury on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. The Voyageurs, currently ranked sixth in the division, are capable of upsetting — just a few weeks ago, Laurentian pulled out a three-point win over the No. 8 Carleton Ravens.
Ryerson took an 87-63 win the last time these two teams met, but things have certainly changed since then. Laurentian will be fighting to hold onto the final OUA East playoff spot and will likely put up a more difficult fight against the visiting Rams.
