Road to the Final 8 set to begin on October 26
TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams men’s and women’s basketball teams will open their 2018 campaigns at home against the Toronto Varsity Blues on October 26, 2018, and both teams hold high hopes heading into the new season.
The men, on the other hand, will continue to hunt for their first ever U SPORTS national title. Both a provincial and national silver medal marked the 2017-18 as a successful one, but the Rams are hungry for a title and will return to the court this season with a newfound sense of tenacity.
With championship hopes in mind, the Rams will have their sights set on national competition. Ryerson will host the 2019 U SPORTS Final 8 Women’s Basketball national championship from March 7 to March 10, 2019, automatically qualifying as one of the eight participating teams. Alternatively, the men will hope to return to Halifax again this year, as Dalhousie is set to host the 2019 U SPORTS Final 8 Men’s Basketball

2018 | Ryerson Rams vs. Toronto Varsity Blues, Battle for the 6ix & Home/Season Opener
The Rams will open up the 2018-19 season with an exciting matchup against the Toronto Varsity Blues. The crosstown rivals will both be looking to kick-start their seasons with a win against their downtown neighbors.
The women’s team suffered a one-point loss at the hands of the Varsity Blues last season, and the Rams will look to come out on top this time around. On the men’s side, the Rams haven’t lost to Toronto since February 15, 2013.

2018 | Ryerson Rams vs. Guelph Gryphons, Halloween Special
Bring your costumes, Rams fans! This year’s schedule features a spooky matchup between Ryerson and Guelph on All Hallows’ Eve. The two inter-division teams only meet once a year, and it’s Ryerson’s turn to host the matchup.
The Gryphons’ women’s team finished fourth in the OUA West last season but were knocked out of the playoffs in the second round by the Western Mustangs. The men missed the playoffs with a seventh-place finish in their division.
The frightening festivities are set to begin at 6:00 pm when the women face off, and the men’s game will follow at 8:00 pm.

2019 | Ryerson Rams vs. York Lions, Subway Series Rematch
The Rams will begin to wrap up the regular season with a matchup against the York Lions on February 15, 2019. After the launch of the new subway line in Toronto, York fans have made it a point to ride down to the Mattamy Athletic Centre to cheer on the Lions. Another Toronto rivalry, the cross-town feud has heated up in recent years, and, as always, the Rams will look for a victory in their second-last game of the regular season.
