Kia Kaha: Women's basketball staying strong in Taiwan
KAOHSIUNG - The Ryerson Rams women's basketball team has traveled to Kaohsiung, Taiwan, to compete in the BLIA Cup University Basketball Tournament, hosted by Fo Guang University. Follow along with the trip and read daily first-hand accounts from the Rams as they travel and explore Taiwan!
Day 1: July 2, 2018
"Do good things. Speak good words. Think good thoughts. We have been trying to adhere to these three actions since we arrived in Taiwan, as this is the tournament’s motto. Although we were a little disappointed to wake up to rain, we realized that this is why the island’s landscape is so green and beautiful. We grabbed an umbrella, put on our raincoats and ponchos, and set out to explore the [Fo Guang Shan] Monastery. We visited two temples, including the Wisdom Shrine and the Main Shrine [...] After our adventurous day, we played Alaska Anchorage University. Our game didn’t go the way that we wanted it to, but some good things came out of it. We got a feel for how non-Canadian teams play and we now know what we have to clean up for our next game. We play the host team, Fo Guang University, tomorrow! Tune in at 7am...if you’re up." - Cara Tiemens, Guard (5Senior)
