TORONTO - Coming off a wipeout against Ottawa, the Ryerson Rams look ahead as they prepare to take on the first seeded UOIT Ridgebacks on Saturday, followed by a matchup against the Trent Excalibur on Sunday in a weekend homestand.

The Rams are 2-1-1 on the season, suffering a 6-0 loss at the hands of the Ottawa Gee-Gees last weekend. The Rams have shown confidence on the field this season, but were unable to shut down Ottawa’s powerful offense in a matchup that got the best of them.

“I think that mistakes are going to happen here,” said Tina Cook, the Rams assistant coach. “They [happen] because of them just gelling together and getting to know each other, and some of them being in their first year in the OUA.”

The upcoming weekend brings a tough matchup against the UOIT Ridgebacks; they are undefeated thus far, coming off a 2-1 win against the Trent Excalibur last Sunday. The Rams went 0-2 against the Ridgebacks last season, outscored by a total of 9-0 across two games. UOIT will be facing a revamped Rams team, who despite some player turnover, have opened the season on a positive note. The matchup between UOIT and Ryerson will take place on Saturday at 2:30pm in Downsview Park.

The Trent Excalibur currently sit last in the OUA’s eastern conference, with a record of 0-3 through the first few weeks of the season. The Rams went 1-1 against Trent last season, and this year’s first matchup will take place on Sunday, September 10th at 5:30pm in Downsview Park.

Cook says she’s happy with how the Rams have played over the first few games of the season. “We’ve seen some first year players, we’ve got to see a little more of what they can do and how they can step up and contribute. And we’ll start to see who fits where to get a better idea of where our team is and who fits what role.”
