Rams suffer first loss of the season

By Sports Information

TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the young 2018 OUA season, falling 2-0 to the Toronto Varsity Blues.

Ryerson's Joycelynn Brar (Mississauga, Ont.) registered the first shot on goal 11 minutes into the opening half but the Blues would strike six minutes later when Natasha Klasios (Unionville, Ont.) gave Toronto an early 1-0 lead.

Klasios had a chance to get her second of the day at the end of the half when she was awarded a penalty kick, but she was denied by Rams keeper Elisa Lapadula (Brampton, Ont.), keeping it a 1-0 game heading into halftime. Both teams recorded four shots on goal in the first half.

The game stayed at 1-0 until Kristin Parkes made it 2-0 for the Blues in the 90th minute.

Ryerson fired nine shots on the day with five registering as shots on goal. Toronto also had five shots on goal after attempting a total of 15 shots.

With the loss the Rams record moves to 1-1-1, while the Blues improve to 2-0-1. Ryerson will host Ottawa next Saturday and Carleton on Sunday.
