Rams left scrambling after Gaels' three-goal effort
TORONTO - Three quick second-half goals lifted the Queen’s Gaels to a 3-1 victory over the Ryerson Rams on Saturday afternoon at Downsview Park.
The Rams seemed slow in the opening minutes of the match, struggling to advance the ball past
Ryerson midfielder Anastasia Grekos (Toronto, Ont.) would turn the tides for the Rams in the 25th minute of the match. Grekos gave the Rams a 1-0 lead off a beautiful free-kick shot from outside the 18-yard box, sending the ball over top the Queen’s keeper and tallying the only goal of the first half.
The Rams started the second half on a positive note; Sierra Clancy (Waterloo, Ont.) and Sollbach both had dangerous chances in the first five minutes of the half, but Gaels goalkeeper Anna Stephenson (Vancouver, B.C.) made two stunning saves to keep the score as-is.
The Gaels capitalized on two quick
The Gaels’ Christie Gray (Vancouver, B.C.) added a late goal to give her team a 3-1 lead in the 88th minute.
The Gaels walked away with a 3-1 victory after a strong showing in the second half. Ryerson’s only goal of the match marked Grekos’ second goal of the season.
The Rams will resume action Sunday afternoon against the RMC Paladins, kicking off at 2:30 PM at Downsview Park.
