Rams looking to catch fire on trip to Ottawa
TORONTO - Coming off their second win of the season the Ryerson Rams women’s soccer team will be traveling to Ottawa this weekend to play the Carleton Ravens and Ottawa Gee-Gees.
The win last Sunday against RMC has given the Rams a much-needed jolt, and with only five games remaining in the season the Rams will need to pick up a number of wins down the stretch to get themselves in the playoffs.
On Oct. 6 the Rams will play the Ravens. The two teams met earlier this year and played a 0-0 game. The Rams will be looking to limit the Ravens offence again this time around, while also looking to get their offence going. A win against the Ravens would pull the Rams just one point behind the Ravens in the standings.
On Sunday, the Rams will be in for a tough match up when they take on the Gee-Gees. Ottawa carries an 8-1-1 record good for the top seed in the OUA and No. 5 in the U SPORTS rankings.
One of the main strengths for the Gee-Gees and Ravens is their goals against numbers. Both teams have only given up six goals in their opening 10 games, with the next closest OUA East team giving up 10 goals.
The key for the Rams this weekend will be staying strong defensively as well. With the lack of offence, the Rams need to keep game scoring low to give them their best chance of winning or grabbing a point in a tie.
The Rams will play Carleton at MNP Park and Ottawa on Sunday at Matt Anthony Field, with both games kicking off at 1:00 p.m. Follow us on Twitter for all the latest scores and updates.
