Rams women's hockey land NCAA transfer Low-A-Chee
TORONTO — An eighth new member has been added to Ryerson's 2017-18 women's hockey roster in the form of a transfer from the NCAA.
After one season with the Robert Morris Colonials in Pittsburgh, North York's Emma Low-A-Chee has decided to return home to the GTA and continue her post-secondary education and athletic career with the Ryerson Rams.
A former Toronto Aero of the Provincial Women's Hockey League (PWHL), Low-A-Chee describes herself as a "strong, hard working power forward." In her final season with the Aeros, Low-A-Chee won the PWHL and provincial championships, what she describes as the highlight of her athletic career so far.
"Having Emma choose to return from NCAA Div I and play for the Rams is very exciting. She clearly values a sense of belonging and community, which is why Ryerson will be a terrific fit for her," said Rams head coach Lisa Haley. "She has a presence on the ice with her intimidating style of play, a strong shot, and relentless pursuit of the puck. She will also be a well-respected player by her teammates, simply because her natural leadership traits of being there for them, and making whatever sacrifices necessary for her teammates to succeed will shine through. Our coaching staff is looking forward to the positive contribution Emma will make to our program both on the ice and in the dressing room."
Low-A-Chee says she chose Ryerson "because it is close to home and I really like Lisa as a Coach and person."
A former captain of the Bill Crothers Colts women's hockey team, Low-A-Chee will be enrolled in Ryerson's Arts & Contemporary Studies program, beginning in the fall.
