Rams look to rediscover their game on the road at Toronto
TORONTO - After a victorious stop home at the Mattamy Athletic Centre, the Ryerson Rams are back on the road to take on the U of T Varsity Blues.
Kicking off a three-game road trip, the Rams head to Friday night’s matchup at the Goldring Centre riding an undefeated 4-0 record. In their season-opening record, the Rams have yet to give up more than one set in any match.
The Rams utilized their previous match against the Trent Excalibur to test out some new faces in their roster, having beaten Trent the previous weekend. However, the OUA has yet to see much of the Varsity Blues, holding a 1-1 record across two starts. These include a 3-0 victory, and a 3-0 loss.
Coach Adam Simac knows after utilizing a less familiar lineup in the previous match that the team is in need of some reinvigorating heading into the match to continue their success.
“I think the biggest thing is we need to rediscover the fun in our game,” Simac said. “We’re going to have to rediscover our passion, rediscover the courage, and rediscover the joie de vivre, for lack of a better term, that helped us be successful against Mac, that helped us be successful against Trent and York.”
One of those new faces seen was Gregory Vukets (Aukland, New Zealand) making his first full appearance for the Rams. While unsure of the role the new faces will play in their upcoming matchup, Vukets is fully committed to aiding the team in any way he can.
“I just want to do what I can to help,” Vukets said. “Whether that’s helping other people be in a good state of mind, or whether that’s my actual game in itself. There’s plenty of learning to do in both areas.”
The U of T Varsity Blues host the Ryerson Rams on Friday November 17th, 8:00 p.m. at the Goldring Centre. Catch all the action on OUA.tv and on Twitter with @ryersonrams and #weRrams
