Rams host Lancers in one-and-done weekend
TORONTO - It’s a one-and-done weekend as the Ryerson Rams host the Windsor Lancers on Saturday night at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
A rocky start to 2018 for the Rams is starting to turn around, having come off a strong sweep of the Queen’s Gaels this previous weekend. Three consecutive five-set games brought on some stress and scares for the team tied for the top of the OUA East standings, but after a loss to the Brock Badgers there’s been a shift in the team’s game.
The Lancers enter the Mattamy Athletic Centre having also just won in a 3-0 sweep, overtaking the Nipissing Lakers. However, the Lancers have lacked consistency in the winter portion of the season, having won three of the last five matches without any consecutive wins or losses. If this pattern stays true, they would stand to lose to the Trent Excalibur and win at the MAC, however the Rams are determined to break this chain.
Winning three of the last four matches despite entering 2018 on a two-game losing streak, the Rams will be fighting more than the Lancers this weekend. Tied with the York Lions for control of the OUA East, the Rams are entering a late-season push into the playoffs. With veteran leaders Lucas Coleman (Brooklin, Ont.) and Adam Anagnostopoulos (Waterloo, Ont.) complimented by newcomers Sean Shultis (Springfield, Va.) and Simon Davis-Power (Conception Bay South, Nfld.), the varied Rams lineup is meshing at the perfect time.
The Ryerson Rams host the Windsor Lancers Saturday, February 3rd at 8 p.m. ET at the Mattamy Athletic Centre. Come support your Rams on their second to last home game of the regular season.
