Coleman inks first deal in Germany
TORONTO - Ryerson’s former all-star outside hitter, Lucas Coleman, has inked his first professional contract and will join Germany’s SWD Powervolleys Düren in October.
Fresh off an impressive five-year career with the Rams, Coleman will compete for the Powervolleys in Germany’s top-tier Volleyball Bundesliga.
“I'm really looking forward to starting my professional career at such a well-known club like Düren,” says Coleman, according to the team’s official release. “I know that the fans in Düren are among the best in the Bundesliga.”
A two-time U SPORTS First-Team All-Canadian and OUA First-Team All-Star, Coleman left Ryerson ranking second all-time in kills (1073), points (1257.5
Coleman will join fellow U SPORTS 2018 All-Star Irvin Brar, a former member of the UBC Thunderbirds who’s signing was announced by Düren in May.
The Powervolleys finished fourth in the Bundesliga in 2018 but were later eliminated in the playoff quarterfinals.
