Rams prepare for penultimate weekend push
TORONTO - The Rams look forward to a big weekend against the Waterloo Warriors on February 8th and the Guelph Gryphons on February 9th at the Coca-Cola Court.
With the regular season starting to wind down, the Rams need to take advantage of this weekend of back-to-back home games to help them secure a playoff position.
Currently the Rams are 10-5. They added a 3-1 loss last weekend from the Varsity Blues (19-25, 25-17, 18-25, 22-25), and a 3-1 win against Trent (25-23, 23-25, 25-13, 25-23).
The Rams have yet to meet the Warriors and Gryphons this season. Last year, the Rams won 3-1 (18-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-21) against Guelph. In their first showing the Rams fell 3-0 to the Waterloo Warriors (13-25, 21-25, 19-25). Although, during the OUA quarter-final, the Rams beat the Warriors 3-2 (23-25, 25-19, 18-25, 25-20, 15-9) to advance to the OUA semifinal.
The Rams are sitting in the standings with 20 points compared to the Warriors who have 10 points and Guelph with 16.
Xander Ketrzynski continues to lead the OUA with a number of 4.75 kills per set and a total of 261 kills. He sits in second with 0.60 service aces per set behind McMaster’s Andrew Richards.
Adam Sandeson leads the OUA with 145 digs and is in second for 2.69 digs per set behind Western’s Nathan Phelps. Riley Anderson also sits in third place with 1.05 blocks per set.
It will be critical for the Rams to use their offensive and defensive strategies that they have built over the season to have a successful weekend against the Warriors and Gryphons.
Game start will be at 8:00 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday at the Coca-Cola Court. For live updates follow us on Twitter and tune in to OUA.tv.
