Ketrzynski leads Rams in final home game before playoffs
TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams will host their last game of the regular season on February 24th against McMaster. The game will commence at 4:00 p.m.
The Rams are currently 12-5, and have already clinched a playoff position. They sit second in the OUA East with 24 points, behind Queen’s with 28 points.
The Rams have yet to face McMaster this season, but it will be a tough match up before the playoffs. Currently, McMaster is first in the OUA West with 26 points, are on a seven game win streak and are 13-2 overall.
Last year, the Rams won 3-1 (17-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-23) against the Marauders, and will be hoping for a repeat of this outcome.
It would be a great confidence boost for the Rams to compete with the Marauders before playoffs, and it would be another match up where they can show off their diverse talent.
Xander Ketrzynski continues to lead the Rams and the OUA. He is first with 4.88 kills per set, 317 total kills, 0.60 service aces per set, and fifth for a 3.02 hitting percentage. Notably, Ketrzynski recently reached a career high of 33 kills in a game. His power and consistency will present some challenges for the Marauders.
On the defensive side, Adam Sandeson is in first with 157 digs and second for 2.45 digs per set. In blocks per set, Riley Anderson is second at 1.05 and Omari Young is fifth with a 0.97. The Rams have a variety of players who are capable of controlling the court.
For McMaster, they are third in hitting percentage with .319 and 0.53 service aces per set by Andrew Richards. David Doty is fifth for 9.39 assists per set.
As a result, Ryerson will have to be ready for each ball that comes their way to finish the regular season off strong.
The final regular season showdown will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Coca-Cola Court, following the women’s game at 2:00 pm. For live updates of the game tune in to OUA.tv and follow us on Twitter.
The game will also mark the team’s annual OVA Day, as well as a celebration of the Rams’ graduating seniors in their final game of the regular season. First serve will fly at 2:00 PM on the Coca-Cola Court. Tickets for the match can be purchased here.
