2017 Hall of Fame inductees announced

By Sports Information

Ryerson Athletics prides itself on a rich history of exceptional student-athletes and generous support from our community. Each year, the Hall of Fame Committee carefully selects which notable alumni will be honoured at the annual Ryerson Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. It is our pleasure to announce the Hall of Fame Inductees of 2017.

Isadore Sharp - Athlete
Isadore Sharp was a multi-sport athlete during his time at Ryerson. He played on the varsity basketball, football, and hockey teams, which earned him recognition as Ryerson’s Athlete of the Year in 1951. Mr. Sharp graduated from Ryerson’s Architecture program in 1952, and went on to be the founder, chairman, and CEO of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. Named CEO of the Year by The Financial Post Magazine in 1992, Mr. Sharp was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1993 and was inducted into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame in 1998. Mr. Sharp continues to make substantial contributions to the Ryerson community both as a donor and a volunteer. The award for Outstanding Recent Graduates at Ryerson has been named in his honour.

Kevin Krasnowski - Athlete
Kevin Krasnowski was a member of the men’s hockey team for five seasons from 2005-2010. He still holds the record for most games played at a total of 133 games. Mr. Krasnowski was named MVP for four consecutive years and held the role of team captain in his final three years. He received numerous awards during his time as a varsity athlete, including Ryerson’s D.H. Craighead award for his contribution to interuniversity sport. He was also a CIS Academic All-Canadian. In his professional life, Mr. Krasnowski is the Founder of One Ram Media, which specializes in producing documentary series, motion graphics, event coverage, and developing ideas. Since graduating, Mr. Krasnowski has remained a huge supporter of Ryerson, serving as the Director of shared interest groups for the Ryerson University Alumni Association, and as the alumni ambassador for men’s hockey.

Men’s Volleyball, 2005-2006 season - Team
The 2005-2006 Rams men's volleyball team was an incredibly talented squad that dominated Ontario University Athletics (OUA). The team advanced to the OUA final and earned a silver medal, the program's first ever OUA medal. In the regular season, the Rams finished first overall with an amazing 18-2 record, the best record in team history. The team also reached a program best No. 5 in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) weekly national top 10 poll. The Rams received several conference and national awards including the OUA and CIS Coach of the year awards, OUA MVP, OUA Rookie of the Year as well as one CIS All-Canadian and three OUA first team all-stars.

Congratulations to the Ryerson Rams Hall of Fame Inductees of 2017! Their commitment and accomplishments have laid the foundation for the Ryerson Rams student-athletes of today. We look forward to honouring our inductees at this year’s ceremony.

The Ryerson Rams Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place over Alumni Weekend (Saturday, October 14th, 2017).
